Legacy Song of the Day - Santana "Black Magic Woman"

Wednesday, May 19, 2010
Santana brought Latin music to a wide audience in the U.S. by combing Hispanic dance rhythms with blues-rock, often employing a jam format to weave the two together to the point where they were truly one. Later on, more and more jazz influenced entered the mix. Founded in San Francisco in 1967 by guitarist extraordinaire Carlos Santana, the band reached out 6000 miles to cover another great guitarist’s song, Peter Green’s “Black Magic Woman.” World Beat before the term was even invented!
