Legacy Song of the Day - Cheap Trick "Surrender"

Tuesday, May 18, 2010
The Budokan version of “I Want You To Want Me” might have been their first bona fide hit single, but in the long run, “Surrender” has had a more lasting influence and more to say about how well Rockford, Illinois’ Cheap Trick is regarded by fans and rock historians alike. It’s simply a perfect rock ‘n’ roll song-three minutes of sex, humor, attitude and sage advice. The song opened up Cheap Trick’s third album. Heaven Tonight, and exemplifies that collection’s perfect balance of their first album’s hard edge and their second one’s pop craft.
