In a remarkable career that continues unabated more than a half-century after he first signed with Columbia Records, Johnny Mathis has performed songs in all manner of style and genre - from music composed for the silver screen and Broadway stage to golden-era jazz standards, contemporary pop hits, and holiday music both sacred and secular.

He first entered the studio in 1956, initially a jazz singer and eventually steering towards pop, and turned out career defining-ballad hits. Mathis has updated his material over the years, covering the Beatles in the '60's and the Bee Gees in the '70's.
