Today is the birthday of Lisa Nicole Lopes, better known as Left Eye of the Multi-Platinum selling group TLC.

Left Eye, born May 27, 1971, is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was a rapper, singer, dancer, songwriter and one-third of the legendary R&B group TLC.

Lisa Lopes contributed her own self-written raps to many of TLC's past singles, including "Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg", "What About Your Friends", "Hat 2 da Back", "Waterfalls" and "Girl Talk". In addition, Lopes put out a solo album 2001.

In April 2002, Left Eye died at the age of 30 due to a fatal car accident in La Ceiba, Honduras.
