Here's something that we've wanted to do for ages. It looks like Ken Dashow got to it before we did.

CBGBs

Saturday, April 19, 2008

Saturday morning I officially joined the ranks of embittered old Gen X folks.  I read an article in the New York Times about the new John Varvatos store (on the site of the late CBGBs) launch party and have that same feeling in my gut that I get when I see tabloid fixtures in the news or eat too many Doritos.

Proud Parent of a Classic Rocker

Wednesday, January 30, 2008

Just when you thought today's youth no longer cared about great music, a young Japanese organ player shows us how it's done.
Yet another example of how great music is timeless and truly universal.

To Blog or Not to Blog... Let's Give This a Shot:

So we're into another new year. They keep on coming. And with it, a fresh start. Resolve. Optimism. And, though anxiety still fills the halls of SonyBMG, the company that's home to the label I call home, I'm still feeling at least partially rejuvenated from the holiday break, more motivated in the fleeting afterglow of a year Legacy managed to defy the odds and actually more than hold it's own, and hopeful that this is the year that we as a label, as a company, as an industry, stop the bleeding and find the new shape and scope that will be our next beginning.

More Thoughts On Guitar Hero

Friday, January 4, 2008

As Lisa mentioned earlier, several Legacy staffers are pretty big fans of Guitar Hero. I mean, duh, who wouldn't love a video game that single-handedly turned on a new generation of fans to the likes of Heart, Blue Oyster Cult, and Iron Maiden.

How Music Subscription Ruined My Life (Not Really)

Wednesday, September 19, 2007

I grew up in East Bend, NC, a small rural town about 25 minutes west of Winston-Salem. In 1995, I moved to New York City to attend New York University and to feed my addiction to music. You see, when I grew up, there was no Internet. (I mean, maybe there was, but for all practical purposes....) The only way I had to find out about music was by listening to the radio. That classic "High Fidelity" indie retailer didn't exist near where I grew up (and if it did, my mom probably wouldn't have taken me there anyway.)
