2011 marks the 30th Anniversary of the iconic metal albums Blizzard of Ozz (U.S. release) and Diary of a Madman. And to commemorate this milestone of metal, we are excited to announce the special 30th Anniversary Deluxe Collector's Box Set which includes both albums on CD & Vinyl, "Ozzy Live" CD (previously unreleased live performances from the Blizzard of Ozz tour), an exclusive DVD, featuring "Thirty Years After The Blizzard" documentary.

On July 25, 1980, AC/DC released Back In Black in the US, followed by the album's UK release on July 31.

The album immediately climbed the charts, shooting to #1 in the UK and #4 in the US, where it eventually spent 131 straight weeks on the Billboard charts, providing the band with its biggest commercial reception to date.

By the end of October, the album had been certified platinum in the US with sales of one million copies and it showed no signs of letting up.

Last night some lucky contest winners, courtest of Clear Channel's Q104, were able to attend a screening of the Concert DVD from the 30th Anniversary Edition of British Steel as well as a Q&A between Rob Halford and Jonathan Clarke. So, I begin putting together this list of albums from 1980. Except the list then sprawls out of control. I thought 1985 was tough? 1980 ended up with over 140 possible candidates, forcing me to break this blog into two parts. It could've been three, but I don't wish to wear out my welcome.
