On July 25, 1980, AC/DC released Back In Black in the US, followed by the album's UK release on July 31.
The album immediately climbed the charts, shooting to #1 in the UK and #4 in the US, where it eventually spent 131 straight weeks on the Billboard charts, providing the band with its biggest commercial reception to date.
By the end of October, the album had been certified platinum in the US with sales of one million copies and it showed no signs of letting up.
