1978 was a banner year for American music legend Willie Nelson. He began filming The Electric Horseman, co-starring Robert Redford; made the cover of Rolling Stone; was profiled by the New York Times' Sunday magazine; and saw the release Stardust, the sublime collection of standards that would go quadruple platinum and remain on Billboard's LP chart for more than two years. Then there were his three number one hits on the Country chart -- two of which, the now-anthemic "Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys" and Hoagy Carmichael's classic pop tune "Georgia On My Mind," are reprised in this extended set, recorded live in 1978 at Harrah's, Lake Tahoe, Nev. Now impeccably remastered, and including two bonus tracks, Willie & Family Live has been reissued in 2003 to commemorate the great singer-songwriter-guitarist's 70th birthday. Featuring his exceptional eight-piece band stretching out, and with special guest appearances from Emmylou Harris and Johnny Paycheck, the set touches on nearly every aspect of Nelson's remarkable career up to that point.
