When Sam Cooke-lovin' Journey singer Steve Perry released his first solo album in 1984, it was to test the waters during some rare downtime between albums for the arena rock legends. The first single, "Oh Sherrie," was a smash and sowed the seeds for a possible future without his bandmates, which is exactly what happened in 1988 after Raised on Radio failed to live up to the standard of the Journey money-making machine. Perry never regained the spotlight, though he released numerous singles and records, all of which are represented here in one form or another. I recommend everyone that loves GREAT music to listen & buy Steve Perry's 'children'! His songs are what real music is all about! You can relate to each and every situation in his songs as if he wrote and sang them for you! He said in an interview somtime that he never really liked videos because they take away from the originality of the song. He's absolutely right because for example, when I close my eyes to listen to 'Troubled Child' it takes me to a place in my teenage years that I've never had, summed up so much like in that song and it allows me to have closure within myself that I thought I could never have! He is a musical living genius and I wish he'd come back to at least put out some new material for the whole world to enjoy but if he doesnt, I'll be satisfied with his 'children' he blessed us with, already! My best friend & I made a dedication website for Steve Perry because we want everyone to know how much we love his songs and what they've meant in our lives.
