The app, developed by Universal Mind, comes just in time to commemorate the iconic artist's birthday on November 27th.

Jimi Hendrix is recognized as one of the most creative and influential musicians of the 20th century. His innovative style and explosive abilities on the electric guitar captivated a worldwide audience. During the early morning hours of August 31, 1970, during his last tour, Hendrix headlined the Isle of Wight Festival and performed before an audience of 600,000--the largest of his career. Three weeks later, Hendrix was gone. Academy Award-winner Murray Lerner captured the historic performance of the Jimi Hendrix Experience, including Hendrix, Mitch Mitchell and Billy Cox.

Kenny Wayne Shepherd, an integral part of the latest edition of the Experience Hendrix Tour, will be guesting on NBC's Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. It's a special appearance, with backing by The Roots, that is set for Wednesday, November 10, just a few hours before Kenny Wayne appears on stage at New York's Beacon Theatre with the all-star line-up of top players for a scheduled Experience Hendrix Tour stop at the famed venue.

Jimi Hendrix died 40 years ago today in London. By acclamation the greatest guitarist in rock history, Hendrix spent the final three and a half years of his life creating some of the most remarkable and legendary recordings of the 20th century. These recordings are now part of the Sony Music family, and today's featured album is the last of the three original studio albums Jimi released in his lifetime: Electric Ladyland, issued in November 1968.
