This particular track is an Ellington piece, allowing a clarification of a compositional matter. Piano In The Foreground mistitled and misrepresented this tune, hailing it as the lost “Yearning For Love” from 1936. While one always yearns for lost Duke Ellington works, Duke’s masterwork “Yearning For Love” was, and in some circles is, well known. It was conceived as a trombone concerto for Lawrence Brown. This piece, “Searching,” is the lost work-or at least the lost title. Even a CD reissue, attempting to clarify matters, confused them further.

It's been thirty-six years since the passing of Duke Ellington. In 1974, the legendary jazz artist, Duke died of lung cancer and pneumonia, a month after his 75th birthday.

Edward Kennedy Ellington was born April 29, 1899 in Washington, DC. Duke was a winner of twelve Grammy Awards. In addition, his recordings were inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame, which is a special Grammy award established in 1973.

"Duke Ellington Day" was officially declared in NYC last Wednesday to commemorate the music legend's 110th birthday, and the Ellington estate put together a heck of a celebration with the help of ICON Collectibles. 
The day started with the Duke Ellington orchestra playing a set in the 125th st. subway station in Harlem. Complete with a baby grand piano. Inside the subway station. I have no idea how they got it there.
