This particular track is an Ellington piece, allowing a clarification of a compositional matter.
Piano In The Foreground mistitled and misrepresented this tune, hailing it as the lost “Yearning For Love” from 1936. While one always yearns for lost Duke Ellington works, Duke’s masterwork “Yearning For Love” was, and in some circles is, well known. It was conceived as a trombone concerto for Lawrence Brown. This piece, “Searching,” is the lost work-or at least the lost title. Even a CD reissue, attempting to clarify matters, confused them further.
