This reissue adds three previously unreleased bonus tracks to Crowell s watershed 1988 album, which produced five chart-topping country hits. The songs range from soft acoustic ballads to twangy, uptempo slices of neo-rockabilly. Diamonds & Dirt functions as a song cycle of romantic relationships, from the bliss of "I Couldn't Leave You If I Tried to the regret of "I Didn't Know I Could Lose You " The three added tracks were recorded during a demo session for the album. The best of the bonus tracks, "Lies Don't Lie and the Buck Owens styled "I've Got My Pride But I've Got My Kids to Feed would have fit in perfectly on the original album line-up. ~ Mary Grady, All Music Guide
